fan here as well. listened to Bites last night as a matter of fact. i've been experiencing quite a renaissance lately with the old school dark electronic music. front 242, the klinik, portion control, cabaret voltaire, etc. have all been in regular rotation as of late.

Still a huge fan. I saw them for the first time touring for VIVISectVI in L.A. way back in the late 80's. It's still one of the most amazing shows I've seen. Love all the side projects as well....

how can anyone not like skinny puppy??
I can't find my copy of "ain't it dead yet" but i remember them doing some pretty fucked up textural stuff between songs in that show. I need to dig that up.

But damn, i think i like everything those guys have touched with the exception of most of the process and some of the download and plateau stuff. And i still never really listened to much of the solo Ogre stuff.

how bout the tear garden? or at least the first two records.

HUGE fan here, Last Rights being my favorite by far. The newer, harder puppy is not quite my favorite style of theirs, but still good. I really like Download a lot too, III is my all time favorite CD ever.

+1

The Tear Garden is great...Im a long time fan of The Legendary Pink Dots & SP, so when The Tear Garden was formed I was loving it up... I was really heavy into SP back in the day however for the past years I've been more interested in all of his side projects & Subconscious Communications releases. Download is to this day one of my favorite groups of all time--- & If no one out there has taken the time to listen to them, DO SO NOW. Doubting Thomas, Plateau, Hilt are friggin' phenomenal project's... I'm not about to just leave Phil Western out of this list either---Great electronic lads I must say... Dare I throw in some Dead Voices On Air too?? Brap the f@&k on!

Not to concerned w/ Puppy's newer stuff...The Process was the last thing I truly enjoyed that they put out.

Key's solo work is really good...
I don't know what the hell is up with Oghr these days...The album he did with Martin Atkins some years back was pretty good---But his recent solo stuff is meh...

Skinny Puppy is my favorite band, has been for oh going on 10 or 15 years, jeesus!!

very excited about their new album (October). Cevin always keeps it interesting, always does something new with each album.

there is also a new Download album coming out in September!

Yup, I grew up listening to SP. I don't really like the new stuff but cEvin Keys solo stuff is usually good.
They're Canadian music legends in Europe ;)

Strangely enough, SP and Erasure are very similar. cEvin Key (and Dwayne when he was alive) and Vince Clarke are the guys in the back with the machines and when the singer in the front just sticks to vocals they end up with better results.

Good to hear there's a new Download coming out in Sept. I missed that. Now if I could just see them live and die happy...

All the Sobconcious stuff is really good IMO, Plateau, etc. Tear Garden's "To be an angle blind..." is such a weird mix of folk and electronic, I can't help but listen to that all the time.

FWIW I can see people NOT being into Skinny Puppy, it can be really weird and abrassive for sure. I remember being completely stoked my wife got me the Greater Wrong of the Right live DVD for my B-day. I popped it in to watch it, and she watched like 5 minutes of it with me and gave me that "I do't know why I married you" look :)

Now if I could just find a copy of KMFDM's original Naive CD......
