I am SOOOOOOOOO FFFing fffing ffffiiinnnng pissed right now. My 7yr boy was shot in the face with a proper high powered BB gun pistol. We got invited to a 40th, and somehow some other 8yr old kid got a hold of this gun from inside the house and was running around trying to shoot other kids in a pretend way. He had no idea it was loaded, pulled the trigger while pointing at my boy. Some how it ricocheted off the wall before tagging my boy 1cm below his right eye. What amazed me was there was no apology, no effort to remove the gun from the floor, no effort to deal with the situation. The owners of the house and gun simply glossed over it. AAAARRRRRGGGGGG. I am normally a very chilled individual, but earlier tonight I could have ripped some fuckers heart right from their chest and shoved it..........
/deep breathing\
Edit: He has a nice welt about 2cm dia on his check, no pierced skin.... no puncture wound. Could have been worse.

Hehe... I am somehow strangely satisfied somewhere deep inside after watching that. I think I might send my 15 yr old boy on a mission.......

That sucks; you have every right to be pissed off. I would be pissed too. I got shot by a friend with a BB gun that "wasn't" loaded. It wasn't intentional and I wasn't really hurt (although I still have a scare on my chest.) But having those things laying around is stupid.

Thats fucked up....your son could so easily have lost an eye
I would have gone ballistic....its not the 8yo fault. Kids will be kids they dont understand the ramifications or damage even a bb gun can do, but the parents need a serious shoeing for even having the gun in a position that he could get hold of it, let alone the fact it was loaded.
You must be a darn sight more laid back than me, as i would have taken the parents head off...seriously!!

sorry to hear and welcome to american culture. and what kinda friends you have, you should ask yourself!!!
if you are not into shooting kids, which obviously after your post you are not.
and the owner of the gun is still in a healthy condition? *SIGH*
he would not be with me, that is for sure.

Hope your kid is OK and recovers from the shock of it all quickly. Seriously.
If you WERE an American, you'd already have your LAWYER on this. Although gratuitous violence against the parents seems fair in this case, hitting them in the wallet - that could be your Live 8 upgrade and more, he he

I guess thats what I am pissed about. These people were the sister and bro in-law of the woman having the surprise 40th. I had never met them before. I choose the people I hang out with very carefully. I am pretty good at screening people and if I don't get good vibes then I don't bother with them. It was a total freak happening. Still, where are peoples fucking heads at that they don't have some sense of awareness of other people. I don't give a rats ass that its their home, they should have an understanding of safety. Its not american culture, its people who are naffed in the head..... actually, I don't know what it is, I am just dumfounded.

Yeah... he's fine. He will have a story to tell at school next week. I am going over it in my head. I am not mad at the other kid, I am mad at the response of the people who owned the gun. It was like it never phased them. Something was missing from their response. I can't quite put my finger on it. It was like they were numb to the event... no sense of 'shit, that was a close call....' baaahhhhhhh.

You could always try to Reason with them......
I am happy it was not more serious. Having kids my self, I know the anger. My 2 year old once fell off a trampoline at a party and the owners pretended like it was our fault when their kid jumped on it and bounced ours off..... I laughed it off and said that thankfully they have homeowners insurance, and if the injury was more serious, I'd sue, and since I like them, I'd rent them back their own house with only a $25 rent increase from their current mortgage.

Glad your kid is ok!! You have every right to go ballistic and get in someone's face in that situation, IMO.
