Anyone familiar with Guitar Rig and MIDI messages??

Hello hello,

I'm having lots of trouble trying to map MIDI messages for Guitar Rig in VST mode in live. All I want to do is program two foot switches running through my edirol MIDI keyboard to 1. start and 2. stop the loop machine in Guitar Rig. Problem is, Guitar Rig won't MIDI learn anything I feed to it, even the knobs and faders (which I'm not too concerned with programming at the moment). In standalone mode, everything is programmed smoothly. Just need to replicate it in ableton...

And yet when I MIDI learn things to other native instruments plugins in VST mode like massive, it works fine. What gives...

Okay so I figured out how to get Guitar Rig to receive MIDI messages from the pedals... it was pretty obvious, just had to put the Guitar Rig in a MIDI track. Problem is its on a MIDI track and can't take the audio input from a guitar... so I could technically loop any MIDI instruments easily but no audio based instruments! Why can I send MIDI messages to Guitar Rig VST in MIDI tracks but not audio tracks? I feel like this should be an easy fix... could be wrong.

EDIT: actually I CAN'T loop MIDI instruments... the MIDI messages to Guitar Rig are evidently bypassed once a MIDI instrument is placed in the track detail view... sigh...

can you not midi map the controls through the expanded albeton view?

Use the Rig control midi section to
map devices in guitar rig. That way Live can midi learn anything in guitar rig.
Using old school midi learn in Live is hit or miss at best, use Lives midi learn.
