* Battery 3 and Ableton 8 *

Post by bigbonthabeat » Thu Aug 06, 2009 2:22 pm

I am having trouble automating battery 3 in Ableton 8. I am aware that you have go to the automation page in Battery, drag it to the parameter you want to modulate and then click "configure" in ableton and the parameter you want to modulate should show up in Ableton. But when I click "configure", the parameter doesn't show up :?
Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I wouldn't know, because Live 8 crashes every time I try to load Battery.

You have the right idea, but it sounds like your steps are just a little backwards. You have to click Configure first, and then click on the parameter you want to automate. It should then show up in the automation section. This way works really nicely, because you can click on configure, then while it is still active, click on all the parameters you want to automate. SO much nicer than just having them all laid out and having to hunt around trying to find what you want.

zeddy,

thanks for the reply, but I tried that and it didn't work : /

1. I clicked configure
2. went to the automation page in Battery
3. dragged "host ID 1" on the the parameter I wanted to automate
4. clicked the configure button again

Does this look right? This is so frustrating because I was able to do it fine in Ableton 7. It's holding me up on my projects now that I can't use this feature right now. thanks for you help :D

1.Click Configure
2.Click on the button/knob you want to automate and you should see it appear in the list in the config. window.
3.Deselect Config. and assign configured params as usual

All right, I guess the question should be then, are you able to automate any other plug-ins? or is this only being experienced with Battery?

View>automation page in battery
Make sure you have Host selected top left, not Midi CC
Drag a 'none' labelled item from the list onto the knob you want to automate, the knob name will appear in the list ie Shady Hit 2 Level 2
Click Configure in the plugins config window in Live
Click the Soft button in Battery Automation window and the parameter should appear in the Live config list
Assign a midi controller as normal in Live

Boom!
