I used to read fiction

but now find myself reading manuals and such. I'm in the midst of reading Power. I think the manual does a pretty good job of explaining things, but some concepts are explained better in Power. Live is not as intuitive as I hoped it would be. What amazes me is how many of the little things it does. I refer to both manuals. The author is writen by Ableton's Public Media Manager, so don't expect a balanced critique.
Happy reading.

The book Ableton Live 4 Power is well worth buying. It gives both a good conceptual overview of how the program works as well as plenty of practical tips and tricks of how to get the most out of Live.

Ableton Live 4 Power is an excellent read for everyone....even if you think you know everything....its good to hear it spelled out by a different person.

Genshi? Would you suggest this CD-ROM as well. ;p

Seriously...do you think it will be helpfull and informative beyond the manual, power book, and all the online tutorials?

hehehe... you found out! It depends if you are more of a book reader or more of a visual person which the CD-ROM is great for. Me personally, though I wrote the CD-ROM, I think the book is excellent and more in depth. But I know some people who feel more comfortable with the CD-ROM format. You can find it discounted here:

Ableton Live 4 CSi Master @ Amazon.com

I'm also working on a companion site for the CD-ROM which can be found here:
