Interesting, I missed that... will it support my MBP's GeForce 8600M GT?

yes, it supports everything starting with 2,3 which is why i'm unhappy. that was one of three reasons for me to upgrade so now i'm down to two.

so what does that mean? it'll still work right, just won't have the tricked out graphics capabilities?

Yes, OpenCL is listed under feature-specific requirements, so as long as you have an Intel-based Mac, you can install 10.6, but you'll only get the OpenCL benefit with one of the graphics cards listed in mihai's link above. If I understand it correctly, OpenCL will help everything run faster, by using the graphics processor resources, rather than improving the graphics capabilities themselves.

it'll use the gpu for general system processing as opposed to strictly graphic processing. i was excited to be able to do a bit more with live but now...

Welcome to the great world of Apple! They produce stuff for a month, then drop it and make the next one features-friendly.

I was so pissed when they introduced the Core 2 Duo a week and a half after I bought my 2200$ CD MBP. :x :x

it should be more appropriate to include support any gpu that was featured on c2d+ macs and post considering the x64 concept.
