CHAIR?

Post by sampletanker » Thu Aug 13, 2009 3:07 pm

Can someone please point me to a comfortable chair for my home studio.
I get so pissed at my home studio chair that i bought at Office Depot. It's a fake leather office chair. I can sit in it for 1/2 an hour, but, then it just irritates me to where i can't sit and be creative playing the keyboard and Live.

My back starts hurting, my legs get numb. I can't think, and just get all pissed off.

thanks in advanced.

Not wanting to get all health and saftey on you but have you tried doing a quick DSE assessment? probably the desk, or the chair, or both are at the wrong height. A quick adjustment and ye'll be fine.

UKRUSS...thanks,but,I have my keyboard and laptop on a adjustable stand, and i've done all that matching my arms, foot placement, eye sight direction...all that stuff to get my comfort level to my liking. But, really has come down to the chair being the problem.

OK. It's just that usually when legs go numb sitting on an office chair it means the front of the chair is pushing up under the back of the knees, which it shouldnt.

if it is but you think its at the right height, consider a chair with a backwards and forwards sliding seat so you can slide it back as far as it will go releiving the pressure under the knees.

The developer in me wants to say Aeron chair just to see if it causes a massive crash in the internet market. (That reference may be a little too in-joke for some people)

But seriously, those things are the shit, apparently.

I grouped all of the studio chair threads into this thread a ways back:

I ended up buying the Ikea office chair (without arms) that is mentioned in this thread. It's decent. I rarely get the opportunity to sit in it for more than 3 hours, but I never feel like I have a crappy chair.

And P.S... GIMMIE SOME STARZ!!

I have that very Ikea chair in my own studio (in black), it's comfy but I always felt it's a bit lacking without the arms (which I have in my home office)

If you're gonna be in it for long periods of time, Herman Miller Aeron is teh ultimate.

Fair enough, I prefer to stand to play guitar tbh.

However, for sitting, I have one of these that I perch on the end of :) (Although mine is in way more fetching colours, black ftw.)

i'll keep in mind on a front backwards sliding seat.that does make sense.
steelcase leap looks pretty stylish.
the Aeron chair doesn't look like it would be comfortable. Have you sat in one of these?
I'm gonna check out IKEA during my lunch break today. but, i totally need ARMRESTS on my chair !
