Re: Latest Live 8 beta: Live 8.0.5b9!
Live 8 is a huge upgrade though. I would think they got their hands full (putting out APC 40 fires, finishing up on share, and thoroughly testing Max 4 Live to make sure it is right before releasing it) (Windows 7 compatibility, whether to go 64 bit or not).
I would bet the code to get these new features to work added a great deal of complexity to Live's interface.
The betas have a purpose, (make sure nothing really major gets out to the non beta testers who really would be pissed). I would think by the time they come up with a release upgrade it is thoroughly tested to make sure they don't have to go back to an earlier version or they would be going in circles.
Upgrades aren't easy.

Go Abes Go!
Just speaking for myself, obviously, the present condition of 8.0.4 is not preventing me from doing anything I need to.

Live 9.1 <> occasionally Reason 4.0.1 <> Reaper.latest! <> Windows 7 on a bespoke Intel Q6600 <> ASUS P5E <> 8GB RAM, M-Audio Delta 2496 and that's it.

Well, the only real downside of this beta thing that I find annoying is,
"If you" choose to download the beta and work with that,
you are "forced" to keep updating it and if it drags along like this people will have downloaded over 3 gigabyte in data.
Which is not a small amount for people who are on a limited supply of bandwidth per month.
Not everyone has fiber optic super duper speed internet without a limit.

I am afraid so.
it never ends. neither does it begin where you think it does. its only in your mind.
Re: Latest Live 8 beta: Live 8.0.5b9!
I' m realy happy that i have upgraded to V8...
The new Warp-Mode is so amazing and the Multi-Band-Dynamics are a great enhancement.
Never had any Problems with Live so far (Using Live since V6)...
Indeed i' am a little surprised that this beta-period (8.0.5) takes so long, but i had no problems with
8.0.4 so far. I' m using it in conjunction with Reason 4.0.1 and all NI-PlugIns (without Guitar-Rig....) and
everything works fine for me.
Just the Kore2-Software-Editon seems to be somewhat slow and sometimes squirky (sometimes strange artifacts in exported audio...but only if i use Kore2). All other Plug-Ins work great.
I can understand that people are getting upset if their software isn' t running as expected, but please keep the cool. At least Ableton is working hard to make Live bug-free. They also listen carefully to the Community what is realy nice.
Another Note: The Technology is getting more complicated every year. You can CLEARLY see an increase of Bugs or miss-behavior of software just due to the fact that everything is getting more complex. For Example Games. Games Software got more and more buggy in the last few years just due to more complexity. Almost no Game is Bugfree at release (one needs to patch and patch and patch...to remove the bugs). Same Thing goes with any DAW...the more complex the more chances for bugs.
PS: I' m from Switzerland so please forgive me my somewhat strange english.....

Re: Latest Live 8 beta: Live 8.0.5b9!
-I Received my 8 serial, installed
-I was worried about stability and had a few problems.
They've gently given me a live 7 serial_ I made my first live set with it.
-I Had a live scheduled the 14 on august 2009 [the last friday]
-I decided to give 8 a go for this one!
I worked both with live 7 and 8, but 8 was the one meant for the gig
-The only problem [so tiny] I encountered was not ableton Live related at all.
Just a problem with my paper usb2.0 audio card _see my sig
I didn't give it enough latency to work right in full conditions.
So I had to set ASIO driver from 60ms to 80ms, Ableton 8 has kept on good and I've been able to finish my show without any problem.
For the next I know How to set the audio latency_ and I'm seriously looking for a better audio card [firewire I think]
-8 is good and only can be better with next updates
Just be confident or stop paying for stuff you don't like_
or do like many live users: WAIT for a stable version

I use Live since 8.0.3 with both of my Macs, a three years old Macbook with Tiger
and one year old iMac with Leopard. So far L8 didn't prevent me to do what I needed.
Moreover the introduction of Latin Percussion, tons of Presets, Multiband Dynamics,Looper
and group tracks have given to my music a brand new and better sound.
The only problem I have is that when shutting down Live it takes as much as 40 seconds.
Still on 8.0.4.

Re: Latest Live 8 beta: Live 8.0.5b9!
this is unbelievABLE.
still waiting for a working L8. but i am forced to use L7.
i just start wondering i am not the main audience for this product...
i am not just launching clips (anyway i have read there are problems with that too...)
bugfixes for nothing but real problems still exists after a half year. i dont want my money back, just a working software.
ableton scares me. really.
