It looks pretty ugly to me. I don't understand anyone would want to make a VST plugin look like an actual hardware unit. I hate dials and switches in VSTs.

I think it looks kinda cool. Horribly pointless though.

I don't get the Waves fascination with plug ins from specific producers....

Eddie Kramer was one heck of a great engineer in his time though, the guy behind The Jimi Hendrix Experience's albums and a lot more, and he has seemed really smart in interviews I read. Thing is though, in his prime, he wasn't building his own gear, he was just using the stock gear such as LA-2As and Pultech EQs, etc.

The reason Waves do it - there are still plenty of suckers with money burning a hole in their pockets who will buy anything with their badge on it. I've already read reviews in Sound On Sound - 'Dylan '3D' Dresdow' in July SOS talking about producing the black Eyed Peas new album on his pro tools system mentions use of Waves Tony Maserati plugins etc.

well, i don't know... they do pretty good stuff, that i like others more is a different thing, but you can't argue that they are from top level quality... and they not always try to emulate only old vintage gear, but rather have there own flavor... like the R-Comp it's a classic already, i don't know many other plugs that are a classic on it's own... or the L1, L2, L3 those are groundbreaking...
and those guys who do signature series with waves don't need another L3A emulation or whatever... they have those sitting in there racks, they need plugs that accomplishment there racks with plugs that have characters that differ...

they are a company that always made very professional stuff, so it's near / clear to work with some well known people who know there shit and have a personal flavor to make some special editions, nothing wrong with people sharing there visions, especially not if they have such a record rooster to show for like maserati or kramer... (again i don't judge the music, but there work is undoubtedly top and i respect that, i can criticize there work when i mixed a million worldwide seller, but i haven't mixed one of those yet.)

not criticizing you, just saying that i can understand... why waves.

I actually like the GUI...
these plugs look nice..
as far as anybody needing them...
I guess if you're a previous waves bundle owner..
then you probly already have all you need.
I've always liked their products...top notch stuff..
their legacy ones...and the emulations are great..
gtr is AMAZING...
I'm guessing these 'signature' plugs are good as well...
although the 'gimmick' might be a little lame...

If i had money i would love to use the waves c4 at home studio but i dont so just at university but it hasint changed my sound dramtically really, theres alot of nice cheap & free plugs kicking around just they take more time to tweak right but i defo love the earlier stuff waves do, on the subject at hand, i dont really like over the top artistic gui's, always look too gimmicky to me hehe.

Alex!
