inspired by the "cool to get real synths" thread, i'd like to ask whether someone had experience with running a box like receptor or more interestingly (since cheaper), sm pro audios v-machine?
of course i am especially interested in latencies using live as a sequencer and the stability of complex, polyphonic instrument & fx chains.
since there are excellent free vsts, that i would love to use in a external box without worries of crashes when it gets experimental, the whole concept would be bliss ... if it worked reliably.

Re: vst(i) hardware hosts
for 400 quid I'd just buy another laptop.
Some stuff, and some other stuff. Honest.

somehow i don't believe that a cheapo laptop will have the same stability. plus, i need an extra audiocard and midiinterface.
