Hey everyone
I've been using Ableton for a while and just upgraded to 8. I've never had this problem before and have searched the forums and google for the answer with no luck. When I start a new set I am unable to record arm any of the tracks (midi and audio) nor am I able to record enable the session globally. I push the record arm buttons and they turn red for a split second (almost a blink) and then turn gray again. Any thoughts? I am completely unable to record so needless to say it's driving me nuts!
thank you for your time in helping me out here

Re: Global Record and Track Record Arm buttons not working-Live8
Nope, that's not it if you're talking about the 'record on scene launch' option, I understand what that does.
Im just talking about enabling a track (midi or audio) so I can monitor the signal that is going through that track. It used to be as simple as hitting record and teh arm button would turn red. now it flicks red for a split second and returns to grey so i can monitor any signals or record anything in ableton. this is the same thing for the global record button up in the transport
thanks

Did you figure out a way to get the global transport record button to work? I'm having the same issue.
Re: Global Record and Track Record Arm buttons not working-Live8
I've just had this exact same issue, I could hit global record, record a midi track for about a bar and then record would turn off by itself.
It turned out the solution for me was unplug all my USB gear and my firewire interface (didn't need to restart Live) and then replug back in. I guess one of my peripherals was causing problems.
Note it wasn't a midi loopback issue as before unplugging I turned off all midi inputs and still observed problem.
