Adjusting the autofilter with velocity

Post by dizz1 » Wed Apr 29, 2009 2:14 pm

Hey guys just wondering how I could assign the cutoff on an autofilter to be set almost like 16 levels on an MPC?
Say I have a sample chopped in drumrack and Im triggering the pads with my triggerfinger but also want the velocity that I hit the pad to effect the cutoff on an autofilter (and stay on that freq until another pad has been hit)
(basically Im asking if 2 ways of triggering the cutoff, velocity or the 16 levels is easily set up?)
Cheers in advance

i don't think you can (might be able to sidechain the output of your drumrack pre-filter, but that might be ridiculous and i think the sidechain affects the env.)

you could use a slicing preset and set all simpler filters to the same settings w/ velocity sensitivity?

i wish more things in live were built to interact with each other. fruity loops formula controllers and such are genius.

How would you do that simpler preset thing bro?

i've been requesting velocity, env trigger, etc. as macros forEVER now...

both simpler and sampler have a filter cutoff < velocity

if you turn that up the filter will be velocity sensitive

Yeah but its a bit random.
The mpc 16 levels was perfect.
Very accurate and sounded amazing!

is there anyway to assign a keyrange to open the filter? like c1-c2 opens it up from 0-127 in stages. this would more closely emulate the mpc's 16 levels command.

sort of like how you can play the resonator pitch by using an assigned midi key range. I can't test it right now.
