Moving/copying clips in busy set takes forever!

Post by elemental » Wed Feb 09, 2005 11:11 am

A very annoying issue i've been having with Live:

When a set becomes fairly busy, with CPU at about 60%, when copying clips of audio in the arrange view (also midi clips, but not so bad) it seems to take an age to do it! I click CTRL and then click and drag the clip along, I have to aim blind with the mouse and sit there gritting my teeth till it appears, and then try and get it in the right place. This is really frustrating and slowing me down a LOT. Especially when its late and I need to go to bed but I just wanna try a quick arrangement or if a deadline is looming. I want it to work fluidly like I used to in Cubase/Logic - copy/drag nice n quick bang bang bang rewind listen, adjust, etc....

If I I drag a clips start / end points its fine, its only copying or moving clips that has a problem. But I dont always want to drag out loops, for incidental fx etc I need to move around little clips of audio/ midi.

P4 1.7Ghz Dothan, 1Gb RAM, 60Gb 7200 internal rpm drive, Carillon 120Gb external firewire.

Yes, indeed it´s very sluggish when moving a lot of clips or copying.
