usb audio problems

Post by twitch » Fri Jul 12, 2002 3:53 am

i'm running live on a g4 500 powerbook. my headphone out only works in mono so i use a usb audio out instead - i use an imic or a roland ua30 (favouring the imic for its small size). however, frequently both interfaces cut out after a few minutes. this is extremely frustrating, not to say humiliating as the room descends into silence and the audience look at you like you are an idiot. please help as i have several gigs coming up where i am dreading this happening again. thanks a lot.

I use an iMic on a G4 and have audio break-ups all the time. I contacted Alex at Ableton and he never got back to me on how to solve this problem so I'm not sure if there is a fix... I suspect it is the iMic as the problem as other Live users say they have none of these problems on a Mac with a different soundcard (and i also have the same problem with reason.) i would suggest buying a more reliable soundcard if doing a gig.

I know in windows there is an auto power shut off feature for USB powered devices (to extend battery life) this needs to be set to off obviously.
