remixing live
hi, i am wondering if it is possible to listen to edits that you may make while you are playing live in the session view. when i am djing live, often times i want to make edits, however i also want to listen to these edit points before they actually play live so that i can be sure they sound good. any ideas?
thanks
for those interesed in what i do with ableton you can listen to my progressive house mix here: http://waxdj.com/djs/750/

Re: remixing live
yes, you can cue stuff, it depends on your sound card... you need outs for the PA and separate outs for your phones...

i can cue, however when in the session view and making edits, to listen to a particular point is what im asking. in the live view, of course you would simply change which channel the signal is coming out the soundcard, and that would do what you are saying.

Re: remixing live
perhaps a better question is, for any of you that remix live, how do you pre-listen to the edits that you've made? and don't you agree that you must pre-listen to any edits, so that you can avoid any blatent mistakes, eg miss-matched measures, vocal cues, etc...
another question i have, is, is it possible to open up saved files while playing live? for example, lets say you mash two tracks together. you save this file. you could render it, then open that file. but lets say, you want to open up the file with the two tracks. is it possible?

Re: remixing live
yes you can do most of that. just edit a separate clip in a track that's going to your headphones and not the PA.
of course you can't render while playing, render stops playback!! you've used the software since 2007?
as for opening, closing and saving files, just try it FFS. you can find the answer in less time than it takes to post on a frigging forum.
obvious crack user.
practice your set, become a better DJ and you won't have to check your work as you go, you can just do it. you'll be less of an 'e-mail checker' too.

Re: remixing live
tone deft: i appreciate the time you took to reply. respectfully, you are way off base on your assumptions. a. i am not a crack user of the software. b. believe it or not, i am pretty good with the software, at least for what i use it for. i gave a link in my first post to a recent set that i have put out, and i think the results speak for itself. c. i think you dont understand my question. of course i can edit tracks in a channel that i dont have playing live, ie cued. and yes, i know you can listen to them, but the only way i know of how to listen to them is to drag them to where the measure on the time line that the music is playing. this being in the session view. i want to be able to press play and listen to my edit, without stopping the track that is playing out. you jump to many conclusions, and this is the problem with online forums; you dont know me, and i dont know you. i am asking for your help, if you cant help me, or anyone else for that matter, then move on. personally i can do without your negative tone...

FFS means "for fucks sake"
dude, you're really whiny, chill out, I'm trying to help you.
I think you're getting arrange view confused with session view. use session view, drop the loop clip into an empty track's clip, send the track's output to your headphones and hit play on the clip.
see, when people spend hundreds of dollars on software and use it for years you'd think they would learn it a little better. if they download a crack for free and casually learn the program, throwing together tarnce mixes, they won't bother to learn it very well.
the EQ is off on the tarnce mix.
wait, are you Tiesto???
the house mix is sounding better and more what I like. is this a set you did live with Live? gotta respect that!
