Escape Plastic sounding audio

We all love the ability to make music inside a daw, and make pristine recordings, but I personally find the whole thing sounds a bit too plastic, one tip I would say to beginners who want to sound different would be to run the audio out into a desk, perhaps through a pedal, pre amp, or even bounce to and from cassette, then back in.

Your recordings will sound more organic, and have more depth.

there's a plug-in called "ferox", it adds warmth, but not in the way a preamp does, it's more like a lo-fi tape. it can also add noise if you want to.

and there's another plug-in called "wow and flutter", it does the tape fluctuation thing, tapeflange and so on.

i gotta say i like that overly lo-fi sound a lot. bands like neon indian, toro y moi. if you have any tips how to make that sound, please share. what vsts or tapedecks to use, fx, and how to set it up.

If you want the grainy, blown-out tape vibe then your best bet is to bounce it to tape then back to Live.
