I have version 8 at home and my school has version 7. I hate the fact you can not open a version 8 file in 7! It would be nice to be able to "save as" with the option to choose legacy versions like 7. I don't mind if you loose some bells and whistles when trying to be compatible. Other " not as well coded" programs offer this option, shouldn't Live?

I think they use the non-backwards compatibility as an undocumented marketing technique. There is no reason it's not possible. I was using 5 up until 8 and I had people using 6 & 7 and I had to have them track everything before we could share and it was a pain in the ass. Now I have 8 and I have to track for them. Obnoxious, but still works I guess.
