Live 8.0.4 monitoring sounds like it's phasing

Post by Dooby » Mon Aug 31, 2009 4:45 pm

Hi,

Whilst monitoring in Live 8.0.4 with a mic, I can hear a "phasing" effect. I'm using a StudioKonnekt 48, and I've muted the mic's output, but the phasing persists.

The phasing isn't present on recordings or through direct monitoring through the audio interface.

Is anyone else experiencing this during monitoring?

You are hearing audio from your sound card software outs and your Ableton outs. Mute your outs for your soundcard outs. Ableton should still route your audio and the phasing should stop.

I've tried a standalone VST host, and the phasing doesn't occur with that, or any other software. I've muted the soundcard's outs so when Live isn't loaded, no sound from the mic is heard. When I load Live and monitor the mic, the phasing is present.

Weird...

Maybe priming the track and monitoring it's in is causing the phase. Try either monitoring in or just prime it. Not both at the same time.

Thanks for the tips so far! I liked the one about it not using any CPU! It does have limitations though - no customisable parameters, and that includes turning it off!

I'm stuck on this one - I've tried the tips above. It is a weird one, isn't it?
