Listening in now... downloaded the zip file, but something funny happens when you drag it into iTunes: most of the tracks are labelled ok, but one of them - #5 maybe - gets a text label "March of the Samurai...".

And damn, if I knew my competitors would be so damn good, I wouldn't have entered...! 8O

Great to hear so much variation in interpretations from just one 30 second sample...

8. over 6. change in vote. I listened to all of the examples straight through, i felt like 6 had the greatest amount of interest over time. My next two options were 4 and 7. I felt like they too strove to be a bit more than ambient noise. I wish i could have participated! Next time perhaps. I was one of the few that downloaded the sample. And just a suggestion, i would cap these things at 60-90 seconds. if you get any more entries i don't think i would bother listening to the way they develop as much.

Great job guys.

Some of the others were more technical, and congrats to everyone who entered, great work...
but I chose 7. I liked the raw feel of it.

I think I'll join in on 1 of the future battles

HOW
as of now, 30 views of the thread and 65 votes for 6 does seem a little strange.

i have no idea how it has more votes, but i could see why people are picking it. in my opinion it stands out like sore thumb as the best.

I'm voting 4 too, but I would also vote for 6. they both stand out, seem to have a bit more focus. But I think everyone's entries were pretty good, there are some really talented people on this board :)

kudos to everybody!

4 made me want to write a rhyme... I could hear the words swimming around my head and forming like a storm.... 5 did too a little. They're all kick ass!! I can see why the necro poster went with 6 - so good... but my vote stays with 4 for the inspiration.

too bad us posting our picks could sway the results... can you see who votes for what? maybe we should go with a forum login creation time minimum of a year (or some other number) to drop the alter nick factor???
