Hey,
I have a 4 track song written in Cubase that I'd like to perform in Live.
I've exported each track and imported them into 4 audio tracks in Live, then split them up into 4 bar clips with the CTRL-E function. Finally, I copied and pasted the arrangement view into the Session view (Is there another way to do this, by the way, to automatically transfer something from one view to the other).
Now this is where my problem lies. How can I loop every clip's selection with one click? When I try do that (Ctrl-A - Loop) then all the clips are just looped from their default point, (which is usually in the beginning.)
How can I quickly loop all these clips over their start/end times (which Live conveniently does automatically when I use the split function)?
Thanks!

Re: How to collectively loop a collection of clips?
'Scuse me if this is too simple of an answer. In the session view all clips that share the same row will play at the same time when a scene button for that row is pushed. Scene buttons are on the far right column called Master.
So, in your case, arrange the clips you need to start at the same time into a row, one clip in track 1, another in Track 2, etc., but all in the same row. To start them all, push the scene button in that same row way over on the right.
Each will play however its set to play. That is, if one is set to loop 4 bars, and the next is a one shot no loops, they'll play as they are set up to play.
This is basic Live functionality. I hope I'm not misunderstanding what you need.

Re: How to collectively loop a collection of clips?
Hey WFWS, thanks for your answer.
I know about scene functionality, but lets say I have 8 scenes each comprised of 4 bar clips.
I'd like to, for example, trigger the bass from scene 1, maybe let that play for a bit and then trigger the guitar from scene 4, let those two play for a few bars and then bring in the drums from scene 6, I have no problems doing that, but I'd like those selections to then loop indefinitely until I either F10 it, or maybe then trigger a cohesive scene.
Not sure if this is very clear, but basically I'd like all my clips in the session view to be able to be triggered individually and then those selections looped. By default, once it plays a clip it'll stop. I know how to set looping for each clip, but when you have 30+ clips it's quite a hassle to move the loop bracket over each selection and loop them one at a time.
Hope this makes sense.
Edit: I CAN collectively set loop to all clips by highlighting them all and then hitting loop, but they'll all be looped from the same point, which is where ever the loop bracket.

Re: How to collectively loop a collection of clips?
Sorry for the delay. I was hoping a more knowledgeable person would jump in here.
Also, if you look in the manual there are some shortcuts for moving loop brackets around. You can move the bracket left or right by the size that it is now by using the arrow keys as I recall (maybe it needs a modifier key). I'll see if I can verify this and post again.
I'm sure there are others who know more than me on this. Help, somebody.

I don't think there's any way to get out of setting the loop position at least initially. Maybe with follow actions in the clip view you can set the loop to play beginning from point A, end on point B, then loop x many times or play next clip down, etc. But I dont' think that's any easier than using the Set buttons to set loop start/end points. These are midi assignable, so you don't have to use the mouse to move the brackets. Way faster than bracket twiddling.I know how to set looping for each clip, but when you have 30+ clips it's quite a hassle to move the loop bracket over each selection and loop them one at a time.

Re: How to collectively loop a collection of clips?
Any ideas how to select the looping region when it is de-selected? The keyboard shortcuts are great when it is selected (arrow keys LR / UD / and in conjunction with the <CTRL> button) However it is a small hassle to move the mouse pointer over to first click on the looping bar. Any added efficiency helps!
Thx!

personally i would have done it this wayI've exported each track and imported them into 4 audio tracks in Live, then split them up into 4 bar clips with the CTRL-E function. Finally, I copied and pasted the arrangement view into the Session view (Is there another way to do this, by the way, to automatically transfer something from one view to the other
- import the track into the session view
- set a 4 bar loop at the start of the track
- duplicate the track and then in the new duplicated track, move the loop brace along to the next 4 bar section - this way the loop start marker will follow along with the loop brace .. and then repeat this process throughout the track
- another way to transfer stuff from session to arrangement and vice versa is to select your clip(s) with a click, hold - press tab on your computer keyboard and the session view will switch to arrangement (or vice versa) - drop the clip(s) into the new view
