Hey guys whats up im new to this stuff and i just recently bought a mobilePre USB and its working good and im using the ableton live program and when i record it is choppy sounding when i play it back, but sometimes its not most of the time it is just real choppy like da da da da da da da da when its supposed to be daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! if you guys could help that would be great thanks
Are you doing audio in and MIDI at the same time? That could be part of your problem.
If the USB bus is like a garden hose, MIDI is like rolling peppercorns down it. Audio is like rolling big marbles down it. Try to stuff a bunch of both down there together at the same time, and they don't fit anymore. Firewire's much better for that.

increase latency and turn off power savers
try increasing the latency of the audio interface, either in ableton or in any software you may have installed to control the interfaces' preferences.
Also, do whatever you can to optimise you hard disk's read speed. i.e. turn off any power saving stuff, 'speedstep' if you're on a Centrino, stuff like that.
