THIS FORUM'S GOING DOWN THE DRAIN

Post by ipimps 'n' ibitches » Tue Sep 03, 2002 8:27 am

Sorry Abletons, but I really think there's a lot of, let's say "kids" that somehow missed the point of this forum.

In the beginning it was really interesting to drop by and check out a couple of post, but meanwhile it's becoming more and more of a battleground. that post about apple acquires ableton should've opened your eyes about the "behaviour" of some users.

Also, I haven't encountered an interesting thread with some new content for a pretty long time. That was a bit different in the beginning, so it looks like the most important information has been passed through and now it's time for shit-posting.

Man, I (little cry girlie) really feel sorry for you, putting out this revolutionairy piece of software and now being pissed off from some MIDI geeks which should've stayed with MIDI in the first case.

keep y'head up.......

I agree...I use a PBook and iBook but I would use whatever computer was available to me...Mac/Windows arguements are a waste of time...I wish people would give OSX a break too, I like it, never going back to OS9...Live works superbly as a self-contained app, and its current level of midi use is fine by me...I DO use midi a lot, but mainly to generate parts to go into Live...midi ain't what Live's for...

I too am getting bored of things that have nothing to do with Live.
There used to be some really cool posts but most of the time
it sounds like little children talking about shite. That means the
live team have to go through twice as much bullshit to get to
the interesting posts that give them feedback.

I didn't even know this forum existed

Glad to see it though. I've downloaded the live demo and I'm checking it out right now. Seems cools but I'm still learning the Interface.

Guess I'll have to read through and find those posts with good content. :D

Hello together,

I agree that a lot of these "my platform is always 100 times better than yours" are totally stupid. Same withthe rude language in some postings.

The question is how to improve the use of the forum.
If somebody used the forum in a "wrong way" it indicates that we at ableton should organize the forum better.

Of course we have the possibility to delete threads or postings but this is not what we want to do. Basically the forum is from user for user.

We will try to improve the forum (but we want to improve Live too -:)).
So don't let you keep from posting because some 'kidz".

regards,
Alex

I also agree, and I want to point out that as you can tell from Alex´ statement, there are people at ableton who want a stricter moderation. With all the jokes about gays, the porn that sometimes comes up, and all the ego-threads and the fuck-you threads that thats quite understandable. They have to care not only about a handful of egomaniacs, but make this a wellcoming place for all other users as well.

On the other hand, there are also people at ableton fighting for keeping this an unmoderated place. All the "funny" discriminations and other offensive language will not help them.

Aside from the fact that Alex posted that about 7 years ago, where do you see him saying he'd want moderation? I'm reading the opposite. They don't want to moderate.

Ups lol didnt see it was so old. But there are many people working at ableton, and not everybody likes the dirty talk on the forum. Dom has pointed this out before.

Interesting points :)

Personally ive grown to just accept that there are people who go out of there way to be idiots and people who are geniune, the first being more in the majority on forums, reason why i think because people get a second life hidin behind a computer screen and say things they wouldnt dream of saying in real life, its a sad but true point, this is NOT reality its the internet, if someone wants to compose themselves in a stupid manner thats all good, but just as life you cant choose who you are surronded by 24/7, thats the beauty and hate of a free society :)

I think its not that easy, internet is a part of reality, and the emotions that people bring into it are quite real. I´ve also been to this and other forums, and I´ve also, in the beginning, insulted people that I thought were stupid, and I may still do this from time to time, but I´ve come to not take things all too seriously, and avoid confrontations that I know are going to frustrate, because of people who argue straight out of their ego, instead of wanting to solve an actual issue and agree on it. You seem to have this healthy distance as well, but for sure not everybody has it! Some people actually don´t have anybody else who they really talk to, so the forum life represents their whole social life! Of course they take things seriously.

What makes me sad about this is that rudeness on forums makes people hide their true self, because they know they would be exposed to verbal thrashings if they did, or at least it would seem to them that their popularity on the forum would sink. People get kinda stuck on stupid jokes (which of course are sometimes hilarious), and they seem not to be able to come back from that level of hype. So in a way, its a constant party, lacking sober ways of communication.
