mapping omnispheres parameters to midi controllers (or not)
mapping omnispheres parameters to midi controllers (or not)
I'm following the instructions to get omnispheres parameters mapped to midi controllers (using Lives configure button) only the MOST basic controls work. Master levels in omnispheres multi mixer. The configure option in Lives little plug-in device box doesn't seem to work with the parameters I wanted to control. Live also disables omnispheres midi learn capabilities when I'm trying to assign CC's to the parameters I want to control. You can send midi CC's from clip envelopes and omnispheres midi learn function works fine(but is cumbersome for reasons I won't get into here) even after they've been assigned that way, my physical midi control sending the same CC doesn't seem to work. Can someone give me some advice?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: mapping omnispheres parameters to midi controllers (or not)
How did you get around the fact that there is no challenge code for omnisphere? On the website it says "run Omnisphere in admin mode" and since I just migrated from a blow'd-up Mac to PC, I have no idea what that means. Did you run Omnisphere in demo mode?
Re: mapping omnispheres parameters to midi controllers (or not)
I got omnisphere used and had to go through a long irritating process with spectrasonics to get the license transferred, so the registration process for me was different for me than it would be for most users. I don't remember having any problem with the challenge code after getting a new serial number, the problem for me was actually gettting that. Sorry if that's not much help, but that was my experience.
So no comments on my original question about mapping omnispheres parameters? I was really hoping that the comment in the manual about some plug-in parameters not being "published", meaning Live couldn't map them didn't apply here. On top of this, I can't get the on board mapping available with omnisphere to work, I get it fine in Logic. Problem is, I'm more interesting in doing this in Live. It looks like there might be a work around. I think you might be able to make a midi clip and then draw in midi CC automation and set the paramter in omnisphere to midi learn mode and play the clip and have your midi controller set to send the same CC number. It's a PITA, especially if you want to do this with multiple parameters. I'd still love to hear a better way to do this.

Re: mapping omnispheres parameters to midi controllers (or not)
Last time I tried, this was a no-go. For now, you'll have to use the Omnisphere GUI for this.
Re: mapping omnispheres parameters to midi controllers (or not)
feyshay, so that works for you? I can use omnispheres GUI in Logic, but it didn't seem to work in Live. I'll check again...
Re: mapping omnispheres parameters to midi controllers (or not)
i got this to work by control clicking the parameter in omnisphere and selecting 'enable host automation'. i was then able to 'configure' in live's plug in window and set the controller and record/playback automation. so far its worked for the few omnisphere parameters i've tried.

That's got it, thanks for all the help.
