Can live beat the competition ? ---> non-linear arranging
Hey
Pretty soon the next version of Cakewalk Sonar will get officially announced. We heart it wouldn't be version 9 but more like version 8.5. The next version of SONAR Producer will offer non-linear arranging of audio & MIDI with a new cell-based view.

aS No one can ever beat maxforlive, why dont the other DAWs just give up
Re: Can live beat the competition ? ---> non-linear arranging
I have used Sonar since version 2.1 (I think it was). I will probably "upgrade" just because I'm a gear slut and the price is right ($99).
There still exists a major source of frustration that I don't believe they've addressed with this update. It has to do with the signal routing. There is no way to record the (audio)output of a Vst to a discreet audio track... much less so in real time, as you can with Live. You have to "bounce" the audio down. This is totally useless when trying to capture a real time "performance" as when playing Stylus RMX.

i agree on that they should give up or not even start to try to copy the session view, full realtime processing...disco judas wrote:aS No one can ever beat maxforlive, why dont the other DAWs just give up
just as Live should give up trying to ever have a strong arrange / mixer section.
they both should put their energy into what they got best in the first place.

crap.. i dont even want to try it.
im so sick of new daws and new soft this and that. its all crap we already have but with a new worse look.

while im at it i guess this would be a good time for me to say that propellerheads have lost there mind with this record crap.
the interface for record has to be the busiest interface on the market. its such a mess.

Time to separate the wheat from the chaff. This playground only big enough for one non-linear DAW.

they shouldve copied the concept when it first came out, then they might have stood a chance.

And this is probably the main reason I like live - its a flexible as working with hardware gear, patch bays etc when it comes to audio routing.Anubis wrote:I have used Sonar since version 2.1 (I think it was). I will probably "upgrade" just because I'm a gear slut and the price is right ($99).

the question is - is it going to be possible to record absolute automation?
