Well, in 6 the compressor doesn't have sidechaining option, but that doesn't matter since you can do similar effect with volume envelope. Here's how I do it (4 to the floor technique):

1. Make 2 midi tracks. Put on the first one your bass and select from the i/o options "In". Leave the 2nd track empty but route the output of that track to the track that contains your bass.
2. Place the clip containing notes that you wish to be played by your bass on the second, empty, track.
3. Double click on the clip slot of the track containing your bass and open envelope/Mixer/Track Volume. Draw your ducks as you wish.

Cheers

you can get a third party one and put it on a send...

then you have mono channels where left is the sidechain input and right is the signal

but it all comes out mono

google vst sidechain compressor free

Get a third party VST compressor with sidechain options. Let us say you want to affect the bass with the kick. Put the compressor on the bass track. Make a copy of the kick track you want to affect the sidechained bass. Send the kick track's output to the compressor of the bass track.

The downside of Live 6 is that if you want to have the kick affect several tracks, you will need to make several copies of the kick track to send individually to the tracks with the sidechain compressors on them.

i have sorted out my side chaining in live 6, using free plug sidechaincomp which is a handy little comp. i have used it in send return method.

that's the comp i use for side chaining (live 6). that's a cool page that guy has written. put the comp on the track you want compression on and send the audio from the track you want to trigger the comp (duplicate your kick drum or what ever you want), easy as, once i worked out how to do it!
there are some YouTube videos i also checked out, but talk about going the long way round to get a bit of side-chaining
