I'm about to deliver a live set for which i use about a dozen different midi instruments. I want an easy way to switch between them: i.e. i press a midi pad button and it switches to the next instrument. I play what i need through the keys then go to the next by pressing a different midi pad.
I realise that there is the 'chain' select within the instrument rack which allows me to select each instrument through using a control message between 0-127. However, i can't change the range values sent from my controller (microkontrol) - each pad sends 0-127 and thats it. Hence, the idea of having one pad send 0-10 and another 10-20 and another 20-30 isn't an option.
Anybody got any other ideas? I'm happy not to use instrument rack and have them each on seperate midi tracks if that helps.
thanks

Re: Select Instrument with midi
maybe you can use dummy clips. if you set that big instrument rack with chains and so on and then create blank audio clips and assign their envelopes to different levels of the chain selector, then map the pads one to everyone of these clips you should be fine...the downturn is that being these clips "fixed" you must probably disable the option "select clip on launch" otherwise they will always be focused when pressed...

Re: Select Instrument with midi
you can eailly do this... make an instrument rack with the different instruments that you want to use....
then press the chain button to open up the panel where you can distribute them.

Now go into midi map mode and the bar with the numbers 0-127 int he chain portion o f the rack is ls blue and you can midi map that to any rotary encoder, knob.... or you can even on most controllers make all the pads same the same cc message but with different values.....
Good luck
