I'm all for it. Ableton are a business, they trade hard to implement features in Session View for gloss like all the others do, with new plug ins etc.
No doubt Cakewalk has automation recordable in it's session view. Nothing wrong with lighting a fire under Abletons ass.

That "Groove Matrix" will have a lot of limitations compared to Live's Session View, the first limitation being that you can't record directly into a "cell" as they call it. If you aren't a Sonar user, then take it from me, composing in Sonar is very cumbersome if you are use to composing in Live. You have to hit the stop button just about anytime you want to do something.

Well, there were a lot of P5 users who were waiting on an update for some time now. Cakewalk finally admitted that they officially are not developing P5 anymore.

Sonar 8.5 is actually Cakewalk incorporating P5 into Sonar.

Sure, it's gonna suck, it's Cakewalk for crying out loud? but some dorks will be enticed by it, and if it implements even one feature that I wish Live did, then Ableton will probably be forced to implement it too. This is good!

Sonar 7 or 8 implemented the arm tracks while sequence is playing function,

But yeah Sonar's method of composing is "different" than Lives. Probably the worst thing with Sonar is the lack of Drum Racks. Drum Racks have really changed the game in composing for me.

Sonar is probably putting an end to Project 5 and are putting all of the features in Sonar before shutting it off.

Project 5 has nothing on Live though.

That said though for Basic audio tracking and mixing, I like Sonar better than Live. Sonar's arrangement view is much better. and has many options for tweaking stuff. It only helps the competition.

yep if it even syncs to hardware then ableton will be embarrassed into making it work in Live

you guys are silly. this kind of shit is totally inevitable. cubase already did something like that back with 4. and also: who cares? maybe people will use it and like it. so what? you have ableton. be happy!
