something's horribly wrong w/ 4.1 in OS X.3.8

Look, I LOVE Ableton and Live just as much as everybody else, but something's gotta give. I have spent the better part of a DAY reinstalling OS X, my Apps, and my files (Gigs upon gigs upon gigs). It was a "clean slate" install... complete wipe of my hard drive. The whole process took SEVERAL hours. All my plug-ins and Apps are up to date (Reason, NI, Applied Acoustics, GMedia, etc.). Granted Live is more stable (I guess...haven't been testing THAT long), but IT STILL CRASHES!!!!!!!! I posted on here a while ago that it was crashing randomly, and it appears to be crashing still, even after all this re-installing torture. I even did 2 different Hardware tests to check my computer's components... everything passed and was A.O.K! So I was convinced that something was up in terms of Software...hence the reinstall. I haven't even gotten to reinstalling MIDI/Audio drivers yet for my hardware Audio/MIDI gear...so that's not a factor.

I'm really hesistant to start anything new in Live now, which really sucks b/c it's by far the best Application out there for me and my purposes/tastes/brain.

Anybody else experiencing nightmarish performance under OS X 10.3.8?
I've never experienced Live crashing like this until v4.1. I really hope Ableton is working on some kind of update to remedy this... this kind of performance is sub-beta, it's incredibly disappointing. I don't know what else I can do after doing a total system reinstall.

I wish I could be more specific about what actions solicit what behavior, but honestly, it's pretty darn random. Maybe my copy of Live is just mad at me. I don't know anymore...

Hi,
I am pratically sure ....
Your probs come from vst-au plugins......
For my part , I dont use GMedia for this reason and fews others.

check this few thing
1. check for wich reason live crash (live logs ) , maybe you can found directly which plugins make the shit.

2.before reinstall put off all your plugins , create one dir in the plugins for the disabled au ou vst ... test every plugins one after one .....

I have make one time this work, and now I dont have anymore trouble now with the plugins.

Thanks Fil! I will look into that. I have had success with the GMedia Oddity though... I remember one project I was working on used it pretty heavily and it ran like a champ (granted it was an older version of Live, 4.0.X). The plug-ins I'm using are from reliable sources: Native Instruments, Applied Acoustics, and Cycling '74 (pluggo). However, I'll take a look at the crash logs and see if I can decipher anything. Thanks for the reply and words of advice!

FYI I loooove Pluggo! and NI, but I wouldn't say they make the most stable plugs in the world, just some of the best sounding.

I'm sure Frank will find it to be a plug in!

Just type 'crash log' into the search window at the top of a browser window in OSX and you'll find the file, just send that.

Or instead use the Audio Units Manager from Granted Software (easyer and faster at list for your AU), it's free

Yes, audio unit manager work, but it's little bit buggy with some plugins... and is only for AU , not for vst...
I work work manually for my self...
