(probably common) Cubase Switcher stlye questions!

Post by iridite » Tue Feb 15, 2005 9:19 pm

At the moment, the only way I can see of Splitting a long Part in the Arrange window, is to "open" it up using the Triangle next to the track name, select where I want to the split to happen, and then Hit Command E- this seems really cumbersome and not at all in common with the smooth flow of the rest of Live- am I missing something really obvious (like a hidden Scissor tool) ?

Also, is there an easy way to just select (graphically, ie by pointing and clicking with cursor) a Loop Range selection? ie I want to select a range, say bars 21-25 and loop them. At the moment, if the currently selected loop markers aren't on screen, I can see any way of just selecting a particular area of time and looping that. The "Loop Selection" command would depend on me having a Part of the correct length in the correct position in order to Loop that particular measure of time and so is rarely of use to me. Any help would be most appreciated

cheers

Jason

if i'm understanding you, you don't need to open the track to split it. just click near the bottom of the closed track at the point where you want to split. once the yellow cursor flashes you can command e. with the looping just select a range by click and dragging the the mouse and command L will loop the highighted area. both these commands are easier with the tracks open, but are possible with it closed - it just takes more precise clicking so you don't end up selecting the track. good luck iridite electron music.
