Nothing like regional street food. I wish someone from Iceland would open a Hlloli Batur here in NYC. I think I ate there 3 times in a week while I was there (then again I was broke at the time).
Hmmm. I dunno. Those Icelandic hot dogs were all hype IMO.
Hlloli Batur is a sandwich type thing. It's delicious!!!

Pylsur are the hot dogs. They were okay to me, I liked them more for novelty - so interesting that hot dogs were popular over there.

38. Best place to eat: Currywurst
Konnopke's Imbiss, Berlin

The German obsession with currywurst – 800m portions of chopped sausage with sweet curry sauce are consumed each year – reaches its zenith in Berlin, where countless diners and roadside stalls vie for the currywurst crown. It's hard to improve on Konnopke's, which has been serving superlative sausage since 1930 under raised train tracks in Prenzlauerberg. Consume with fries and a cold bottle of Berliner Pilsner for maximum impact.

Schönhauser Allee 44a, Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin, 0049 30 442 7765, http://www.konnopke-imbiss.de
agreed, konnopke's is the best.
Nah, Curry 36 is the best!
I also like Maximillian Imbiss in Tempelhof, where the ladies work with a ciggy in their mouths and curlers in their hair.

WTF!? Berliner Pilsener??? Why??? Should be ne Handgranate Schulle or at least Berliner Buergerbraeu..

Anybody already been to the Currywurst museum?

Nah, Curry 36 is the best!
utter FAIL!!! what's wrong with your nose and taste buds? especially nose, curry 36 smells and taste after old fat, or have you been always in the night totally wasted, the kind of being wasted that allows you to even eat a doner kebab in berlin...?

You got me! :)
Only been there late nights. Really dig the athmosphere at Curry 36 (though 61 is mainly hell).
If Konnopke is that good I'll revisit it soon. Can't remember the last time, must be as a kid in the late 80s.
Have to say that I prefer a good Falafel or Scharwarma instead of Currywurst.
Doener is awesome if you take it with Knobauch/Scharf sauce and to go. The trick is to leave it 5-10 minutes in the aluminium foil. Than it'll taste good..

Us locals much prefer Nonnabitito Hlöllabátar. They're way tastier, with better ingredients, and the serving staff are much more colourful (read: weird and scary).

+1, i love for example merguez e frites (not sure about my spelling, thou...) in paris.

it's basically a north african / arabic spicy lamb sausage, fried, plus fried onions and french fries and loads of harissa (a special north african / arabic spicy sauce, perfect for lamb dishes) in a baguette... yum. yum. yum.

EUR1.10 for a pepsi? I always had the misconception that stuff like coke & pepsi was astronomically expensive in Iceland, like EUR 5 a shot. Learn something new every day... :D

Ooh, I didn't have that.

I wish I could visit Iceland again. It was amazingly beautiful.
