Best way to run Live with the Novation SL mk2

Does anyone know of a good guide or tutorial for the best way to play a live set in session view with the SL? Ie parameter assignments etc.. I want control of channel selection, mixxer levels, scene selection all from the Sl but also have control over third party plugins as they are selected..

Do you run automap mode or advanced mode??

ok so for my own reference and anyone else who is attempting this painful exercise, and in the honor of open source knowledge.. Here is what I have discovered.

To use live you have to switch between advanced mode and automap mode...

In advanced mode the faders and buttons under them on the SL should represent the levels for your tracks in Live. But if you want to control plugin parameters you have to hit the automap button to go into automap mode (DAMN!) to go back to the ableton mixer hit the automap button again to go into advanced mode. Novation told me that they are working with ableton on this so you can have simultaneous control of plugins and ableton mixer , but its not possible yet...

If anyone has a work around for this would love to hear it. cheers.

They are working on it?!?!?! Does this mean an automap universal mixer template is going to come for live?

This is something the sl/live users here have been begging for ever since the 1st generation of SL's were released...and until now novation have allways answered that it's up to ableton to implement that. And the abes only pointed out that there's the ableton automap template [advanced on the mk2] (to which everyone else here has come to the conclusion that it's pretty useless due to the fact that one cant modify it, and it allways takes several seconds to switch between the 2)

If this is true I'll be jumping in circles cheering when it comes!

well I hope that this is a technical hurdle and not some kind of financial dispute between the two companies (if they do that?) as it would be a shame not being able to push the potential to fully fuse these two excellently crafted tools.

Automap would be crazy if it worked natively with live's plugins and mixer...
