VST support in Live4

Post by tezza » Wed Feb 16, 2005 3:10 am

I'm considdering upgrading from Live3 to Live4. I have downloaded the trial (4.1) but I want to get an idea from others using it heavily. How good is the VST support in Live4? I ask this because other software supporting VST have mixed results in terms of VST instrument compatability. Things seem to vary a lot.

Has anyone experienced one or more VST plugins not working in Live4?

Note: I wouldn't expect every VST under the sun to work on any one software package.

i have quite alot of 3rd party plugins, and all of them work flawlessly in Live 4.

though i don't really use them all these days, here they are:

Instruments:
Reaktor 4
Stylus RMX
Korg Legacy Cell
Imposcar
Oddity
FM7
Pro-53

FX:
Waves 5
TC Native Bundle 3.1
Supatrigga
Vintage Warmer
Analogic Delay

and various others

so i wouldnt be too worried about it.

The only issue I have is Live4 seems to use more resources to run the same plugins. But used wisely, nearly all VSTs work just fine for me. Trying to load FL as a VST crashes my system though.

I run some of the same ones Adam does and other major ones

No problems to speak of - yeah, other than resource usage could be more efficent

I typically prefer sample-based instrument plugins. I use the following with no problems. Stylus RMX, Atmosphere, Trilogy, Ultra Focus, Charlie, M-tron, and Vanguard. X-treme FX is ordered and will be here tomorrow. For effects I use Waves Diamond Bundle 5, Audio Damage Mayhem, and Antares Tube, Filter, and Kantos.
