2 quick questions!

Post by pathosmusic » Mon Sep 21, 2009 6:00 pm

I've recently switched to Live but there are some things I am not clear on how to do which is basic in most other DAW's i've used before.

First, how can I set up a template for a session where I am recording / mixing different tracks from the same artist and need the effects / compressors on certain tracks to remain the same. I DO NOT want to set the current project as the default template! This is only for seperate sessions I want, not every time I open live.

Second, has anyone else experienced problems with the Clip editor / warping / groove buttons? It seems that sometimes the will be greyed out and i can't use the features. (i.e. Warping an acapella to 130bpm from 128. I will select the sample and hit "warp" then the Seg. BPM section remains grey and I cant move it or type in my value of 128).

:S other times it works fine, whats causing that

Thanks for the help 8)

Just save another set and save it as <name>_Template.als

Not sure on this one, sorry, I don't use audio samples that often.

After playing around with it for a while it seems that sometimes if i click off the selected clip, then back onto it, the box opens up for me to type in, not all the time though.

Also deleting and re-importing it sometimes works too, it seems like a glitch or something :(

It's normal behaviour, you have to click on a warp marker (green boxes above the waveform display). You are adjusting the tempo of the section after that warp marker.

It never did that for me in previous versions of live. Always just trimmed the loop / sample to the start since some have spaces in the front, selected the clip and hit warp. Drag to the correct tempo. Done.

It has always been a very fast procedure and its just annoying.

I think it might be new, with the new warping interface in Live 8

Annoying ? you just need to click on a warp marker, and then you can change the tempo ! 1 click is not THAT annoying, is it ? :-D
