interactions with APC and behaviour of the # track feature
interactions with APC and behaviour of the # track feature
hi
(My post is maybe more useful in this category)
I have just bought a APC and there are some things I can't find
1) delete a clip with APC
2) open a group track with APC (to show the tracks of the group)
3) open the plugin window with APC (for a VSTi for example)
4) and finally, I think that the behaviour of the "auto track number" (when you put a # first on the track name) is not ok when using group tracks and particularly with APC.
Example :
there is 2 tracks in the group track
the number # of track 2 should be 2 and the number of track 3 should be 3 if the group track 1 is closed
(for matching with the APC faders)
and when the group track 1 is opened, the number # should be updated like here with the correct number
Mr Ableton thanks in advance for these very important requests I think!

Hi,
1,2 and 3 ...unfortunatly not possible at the moment. There are already threats in this whishlist concerning this. 4 is certainly a bug.

I am interested in this can you point me to it in the manual, I can't find it anywhere, I'm not clear as to what is supposed to be happening that doesn't already, as my APC 'collapses' with the Group as expected.
thanks

Re: interactions with APC and behaviour of the # track feature
According to 8.05 bug fixes "After grouping tracks, the APC40 would not always show the respective track states [5620]"
Does this cure what you were talking about?
Coz when I number tracks with a # it doesn't seem to make any difference.

hello jimmy
this bug fix doesn't concerned the bug I had described
I talk about the behaviour of the # track feature
are you a member of ableton team ?

I'm afraid not - how did you find out about this feature? Can you point me to its page in the manual or something, I don't quite get it. (Despite your very good description!)

I dont have read the manuel
just enter a # character in the name of the track and you will get it

Re: interactions with APC and behaviour of the # track feature
OK not in the manual, you must have learnt about it somewhere? (You put the words "auto track number" in quotes)
Is it that replacing the original track names with # should enable you to open and close Grouped tracks while maintaining the numerical sequence in each case?
I can't see how the APC would benefit from this as when you open and close a Grouped track the lights change as I would expect.
