ableton and apc40 advanced customization

Post by roajah » Thu Sep 24, 2009 1:06 pm

hello
i have live 8.

First question: why everytime the track plays and i move the start marker, the track skips the same distance i have moved the marker
for example, the track plays, my start marker is at 23. the track is playing. i move the marker to 26, the track skips 3 bars and continues playing. moving it back, has the same effect, only backwords.
Is there a way of stopping this?
I want to use some effects in a live dj set and it involves the start marker. but so far it's not working how i would expect.

Second question: i have the apc40 and i wanna do this, reprogram some pads so when i press them, the star marker would snap at a point defined by me.
or, the track plays, and when i press stop, the start marker sets to the place i stopped the track playing. then i press play and the track continues from the place i stopped.
is this possible?

Third question: how can i pause my track playing and when i press the play pad, it continues?

Thanks

Press shift+spacebar to continue play from where you stopped.
About the start marker, i don't think there's anything you can do to change that behavior.

RE: your first question, are you trying to trigger the song over again from different points in the track? If so, try copying the song to a new clip and setting the start point 1.1.1 to whatever different place you want to trigger from. Make a couple more copies and put your different start points in. Keep the copies all in a row vertically so when you trigger the next clip it stops the previous one. I've seen a few DJs do this, a quick way to chop up a song and rearrange the parts on the fly.

This may also apply to your question #3, you can stop the track anytime and restart it where you want it to play.
