Back lit keyboard metronome blink.. Help?
Came across this:
http://www.keindesign.de/stefan/Web/Sit ... Spazz.html
It's called iSpazz and it is a visualizer plug-in for iTunes that will make your backlit keyboard (macbook pro) dance to the music..
Wondering if anyone knows how I could get a metronome blink through the backlit keyboard?
don't know if I want to do this cause it might mess up my backlit keyboard, but it'd be cool to try it out if it isn't too crazy of a set up..
Just need a blink on every metronome hit, either by sending MIDI clock, or just a note on every quarter not or any other way you can think of, let me know if you have ideas!

This really has nothing to do with ableton..... also to do this I am sure you'd have to write some sort of a program.....
good luck

Seriously? at least this isn't some OT thread about the government just for kicks..
I am looking for a visual metronome blink for when I play with Ableton.
Have you ever been to this forum? No one post's about ableton..

pages and pages of bullshit, so don't give me that.
Later bro, it's all good.

Next time I'll make sure it's in the right area of the forum.
Re: Back lit keyboard metronome blink.. Help?
imo. this has everything to do with ableton, and how we interact with it.AudioRuso wrote:This really has nothing to do with ableton..... also to do this I am sure you'd have to write some sort of a program.....
imagine assigning your keyboard keys to clips.
and the clip playing lights up, and the one about to light up blinks.
like a monome, with an extra 800$ in your pocket.
outersphongolia, thanks for bringing this to the attention of everyone on the board. i think it's an awesome idea.
time to call my favorite computer wizz.

Hell yeah, dcondax. Do the keys each have their own light? I figured it would be one big light, or a few sections, but if they can shine on their own that'd be incredible.
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.
q,w,e,r,t,y,u,i,
a,s,d,f,g,h,j,k,
z,x,c,v,b,n,m,(,)
There's your 8x4 grid.. we can dream can't we?

What I meant by that is that the development aspect has nothing to do with ableton.... I was trying to hint on going to a mac programming community to get better results.dcondax wrote:imo. this has everything to do with ableton, and how we interact with it.AudioRuso wrote:This really has nothing to do with ableton..... also to do this I am sure you'd have to write some sort of a program.....

Here's what a 10 second search turned up:
"Hold down the Fn key when you press F8 - F10??"
What you want to do is to disable the ambient light control in system preferences first...
Then you should use some sort of a program (analogous of midi ox or midi translator for pc) on a mac, to convert say a midi note to a key stroke..... now if this isn't hard coded and is able to catch these simulated keyboard strokes you could have it turn on at note start and off at note end...... but I suspect the mac won't recognize the simulated key strokes....

^ very cool.
unfortunately for our dreams, the mac keyboards are strips of lights, not individual ones. so as for the monome plans, might have to scrap those.
