Ok I'm kind of new using live. I've been mixing with traktor and a midi controller. I am using an m-audio firewire audiophile with 2 rca out/ 1 in, and spdif out/ins.
What I'd like to know is how I could use live as a supplement to traktor, mainly for effects and looping(i know traktor has its own looping). Anyway, is there a way I could set it up to run both live and traktor at the same time, running the audio from traktor to live and then out? Can I do this through software or can I only set it up like this:
1.send traktor's audio out through the first rca out
2.lead this to the rca in and set this as the input for live
3.set the output to the other output for both traktor and ableton.
Can I set the input from traktor into a track in live this way?
I tried this earlier but could not get it to work. any suggestions.
Help me with this setup.

you don't say what system you're on? I reckon you'd get help if only you told us if, say, you're using an ibook or an xp machine...
I'm guessing you use a mac, well then I guess you'd need a bit of software called Jack, or maybe Soundflower will do, I don't know.
I think it'll introduce some latency, but again, i don't know...

I've done what you're trying to do, but not without severe latency issues. Both traktor and live are huge CPU hogs, and running them together... well, puts two big hogs in one barn. =)
The key to what you want to do is to use a hardware mixer and a soundcard with an assload of output channels (I was using an m-audio fw 410, but I've recently ditched them for the firebox). I'm not sure if the audiophile can do what you want, but anyways, here's how I've got my setup rigged:
- Traktor is set to use the external mixer via ports 1/2 & 3/4 on my soundcard, which means that decks A/B are on different hardware channels on my mixer
- My mixer's fx send port is wired to the 1/2 input ports on my soundcard, and the return port is connected to the 5/6 output ports.
- Now, in ableton, create a single track to accept audio from 1/2, and make it sends only. Other fx tracks that you create in ableton can receive audio from this track, which helps to cut down CPU usage. All of these fx tracks should output to master (or sends only, if you prefer), with master pointing to ports 5/6
With all of this, you should be able to DJ with traktor and ableton at the same time, feeding audio to ableton with the fx button on your hardware mixer. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you were hoping to do, but that's as close of a "perfect" solution as I've found.
Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, you can probably pull this off using an audiophile, but you might have to settle for using mono so you can get enough ports.
