looks like they're not, yes. would be awesome if they would be, though.. it would even be enough to replace most of my knobs, which are dry/wet-effect knobs

i guess a bit to much asked for, considering the price tag.8O wrote:Buttons are not velocity sensitive, right?

Does this require automap software to function?

Looks ok, not necessarily an APC killer yet IMO. When Max4Live comes out this will probably be a better buy if someone develops a way to emulate the way the APC can toggle through different racks and instruments.
Like others have said, this would be really cool w/ the APC. In fact, I may get rid of my MPD 18 and get one of these instead as a dedicated drum module as well as another clip selector.

If my APC hadn't arrived two days ago, I would be a lot more torn between the idea of getting a LaunchPad or an APC. The layout of the APC is so nice that I've really taken to using faders a lot more, and I've been truly enjoying how I can jump around the effects and the knobs re-map themselves each time. It really feels like an instrument.
The LP really looks great. I'm glad to see a product from Nova & the Abes. I'm all good with gear for a while now. Maybe pick one of these up down the road...

I love this thing. It looks really powerful, and for the price, it's absurdly good. I hope it doesn't suffer from the latency-introducing problems of the APC40.
And OF COURSE this is announced right after I get an APC40. OF COURSE. I've had nothing but bad luck this month - why should that change today!?

Still thinking the APC is the way to go for the studio, although this does look awfully nice for performances. Anyone think the Launchpad would be a worthwhile studio tool?
Re: Novation LAUNCHPAD: new dedicated controller for Live!!!
i got me an APC too. for like 800 bucks. and sold my bitstream, which would have been the perfect companion to this.
here's a pic of me rite now:

just wondering, why novation, and not akai, brings us the launchpad?
Thought akai somehow had the exclusive rights.

Re: Novation LAUNCHPAD: new dedicated controller for Live!!!
Just thought I would confirm a few things about Launchpad.
1. The unit is available from November 2nd, not November 1st. Novation have updated this on the website so that you can see it for yourself.
2. You can chain 6 Launchpads together, though a powered USB may be needed for that many to work at once from your computer (especially if it's a laptop). The Novation site lists 3 as the max number in error.
3. If you live in the UK, beware of Dolphin Music, who are trying to charge £172.49 plus £6.99 delivery for the unit, which is higher than the list price of just £149.99 for some totally unknown reason!
4. There is also an Ableton/Novation neoprene sleeve for Launchpad too, priced at £9.99 in the UK.
Finally, if you want to see it in action, Novation TV (on YouTube) has full demonstration videos.
