Not Really Electronic

Post by Jonny V » Thu Oct 01, 2009 8:33 am

I just uploaded a new tune to Soundclick called Never Too Many. You Can check it out here along with some older stuff with equally bad titles ;)...

I'm still fairly inexperienced to this so any help in making these sound better would be much appreciated!

That was some nice post rock. I have a few comments, but feel free to ignore them if you want :)

I think the glitchy drumms could be tightened up a bit. As they are now, it sort of sounds liked you randomly clicked around on the midi sequence and left it at that. I think the actual sound of them could also be improved. Maybe make them a bit more "electronic" sounding to act as a compliment to the more realistic sounding drums that come in later on.

The song sounds a bit empty right now. I mostly noticed it when the glitchy drums stopped and we are left with just the guitar tracks. I don't think there was a significant enough drop in dynamics as there could have been. Maybe add a some atmospheric washes or something.

I also think you should add the bass right when the real drums start up to give it a bit more kick.

Oh, and you might want to add the third "w" to your link

No, this is all good advice. I'm here to learn!

- Definitely noticed the drums, complimentary rhythms arn't my thing yet but I'm working on it.

- The whole thing is definitely sparse and I need more mid-lower stuff in there to fill out the sound. That had occurred to me earlier to me earlier but I never got around to fixing it. I recently got Anbsynth 4 so I'll trawl the presets and find something that works. Suppose that's a good starting point. There's no way I can even begin to understand how to create sounds on that yet.

Thanks muchly!
