It's a cool piece of gear for those who has there knobs and faders from other controllers already and just wants the grid. But APC40 on the other hand, is also great for those who wants an all-in-one gear or for those who is in the market for a new Ableton controller. I guess both of these products are not to be compared.
Equipments: Softwares, hardwares, plastics and metal controllers, computers, headphones, a pair monitor speaker, and electricity to power them up.

+1 .. 'Tis very good ..me's a thinking!!djsynchro wrote:A big thank you to Akai!
For not having any in the shops in Holland.
For the ridiculous price difference with the USA
Totally turning me off the APC40
I have my BCF2000 with motorfaders which I prefer.
Nocturn that can control as many sends as you like with MIDI clients
All I wanted was the grid.... LAUNCHPAD!!!!

Glad I held out as well. The APC's short, non-motorized faders were a real turn-off for me. A pair of Launchpads...here I come!jimyson wrote:Glad I held out on the APC. Wasn't keen on not having dedicated knobs for things like eqing and such. And for $200!! I'm in.

hey, i also think they are very different and for very different needs.chelemasty wrote:It's a cool piece of gear for those who has there knobs and faders from other controllers already and just wants the grid. Why did Ableton keep this quit though? At some point I was going to get an APC from JRR in the States (would've saved me 100 Euros but no warranty)
Id be pisssssseeeeeddddd off if I had done that since I didn't need faders or encoders anyway.

Wouldn't say it's "great". The faders suck. Other than that, it's nice...but that's a big flaw to some.chelemasty wrote:But APC40 on the other hand, is also great for those who wants an all-in-one gear or for those who is in the market for a new Ableton controller.

Disagree. For a $399 controller, I think the faders are very well done on the APC.gvh wrote:Wouldn't say it's "great". The faders suck. don't know what all the whining is about. it's only $200. if you're short on funds, wait for christmas and ask for cash towards a purchase.
who cares if there's market saturation with these kinds of controllers, I'd rather have too many than not enough.
should be a wicked bit of kit, can't wait to see all the weird shit people come up with. USB power is a serious win. learning max/msp with a monome was great, now I can learn max4Live with one of these, take it to a cafe, get wired and geek out for a while.
goddamn this is an expensive year to be an Ableton fanboy. can I just forward all my paychecks to them and be done with it?
oh, and why the hell aren't the Eurogoons being shafted on the price like the APC??? that seriously pisses me off.

Novation are not as stupid as Akai
Re: Novation LAUNCHPAD: new dedicated controller for Live!!!
By the way I REALLLYYY dig that mixer mode where you get to control levels and pan with rows of buttons, that will be way easier to deal with in a dark club than fiddly rotary encoders that keep changing function. It won't be very fine control but for playing live it might be fine (especialy if you soundcheck before hand and trim your levels) 2 Launchpads might be the ticket! Plus it'll look hella cool

btw, to disable lighting, just disable midiout to the device, should work (at least, looks like it accidentally 'worked' on the apc, when checking another thread).

that's so unAmerican of them. how are we supposed to get our overinflated sense of self worth if we can't look down on the EU?
time to bomb Novation for supporting terrorism.
mixer mode is cool. can't wait to play Tetris on it. someone will HAVE TO make a max4Live patch for that.
