I was thinking about doing that, but it'd be shit with only 8 rows tbh, that's the main reason I didn't do one for the monome em for APC, tetris with 5 rows ? . . . fail

maybe untris :D
Some stuff, and some other stuff. Honest.

this is definitely sweet, maybe not the best if you're doing live looping with instruments/voice like I am. The one thing I'm really curious about it is what was the horn sound? Was he using some kind of brass synthesis module? It seemed like he was morphing from a trumpet to a sax sound. That would be amazing if it were, I've never heard any convincing, organic-sounding vst or sampled horns..

what would be the "best" and most cost effective setup to emulate APC40 non-clip grid functions with the launchpad? i.e. what added device would provide all the functions of mixer faders, pans/send, transport controls, and, most importantly, automapped device control like the APC40 does? i like how the APC maps to devices very quickly, and though it seems like the launchpad can do a lot of the mixer functions (arming, soloing, disabling of tracks) in its "mixer" mode having faders and pots is kinda awesome...

well, where ever they are, they get in the way. they should be vertically plugged in, like mics and headphones on mixers. but they always forget that.

i noticed one thing about max4live and launchpad:

i hope to be able to map a clip (a full track, that is) in 8bar chunks onto the launchpad display, so a track can be up to 512bars long, and i can trigger each 8 bars individually for loopings and such. thanks to the multibright colours, i could even visualise sectors where there are beats, breaks, etc. a simple wave-display of sorts :)

then, i would need 3 of those, two for the clip controls of the current playing tracks, and one for the 'ordinary stuff'.

well, one can dream :) jepjep :)

i'm falling more and more in love with those devices :) now bring me max4live!

Wouldn't say it's "great". The faders suck. Other than that, it's nice...but that's a big flaw to some.
Disagree. For a $399 controller, I think the faders are very well done on the APC.
Agree, it response very well, plus I don't like motorized faders anyway, so I guess it is great for me.

Now about the novation Launchpad, I think I might grab one also for Christmas or for my Birthday this coming November to replace my Akai MPD24, but I'd loose my transport control for my Reason 4. :?

Nocturn certainly is good, I made instant mappings for it a while ago, so everything that's racked can be controlled painlessly, and you can program your own midi clients that will control live stuff (by midi-mapping) sends, transport, whateve. And it controls VSTs of course.

I think they do it so that you can have it in front of your laptop, which is handy. It says on the Novation site "L-shaped USB connectors" so I think they are going to ship with L-shaped cables which will be cool, then you can have them close togther.

This looks awesome. I bought an APC less than thirty days ago, so back to Guitar Center it goes.

No velocity-sensitive pads I am guessing after searching through the website material. No problem. It still looks like a bargain at $200.

Why not keep it? Well, if you really need the money, go ahead. In my case, APC40 is still my main gear of choice coz I'm not gonna change modes if I would like to use, say 2 effects, at the same time by mapping it with my knobs. Also I could trigger clips while still having control with my effects. While in the Novation Launchpad, you can't without changin modes, so you'll end up getting two of these if you're a power user of Live. But I'm still getting one of these for extra grid, I guess. ^_^

I love being a Live user. Now we have different companies making custom controllers. Nice!!!

I just got my APC last week.
