Thanks for the tip djod, I have to say the wacom object is not super stable in M4L, this is because it requires "focus" (in other words it doesn't run well in the background). Gregory Taylor helped out with this on this thread:

Looks like the object may need to be re-written (right now it works but not stable), I'm trying to find a work around... I think eg banging a menu object at a fast rate might kick the patch into focus, going to try that will report back.
