I have it running on a PC.
It's fine and quite handy. The headphone outs don't give you seperate cueing channels though.

yes I use LE. It's great for mixing and I can easily give my pro tools session to the engineer who runs a really high end pro tools system.

Pro tools is great for mixdown stuff.. repeat after me :D

I also like editing audio in it too .. down the track instead of blowing your cash on cheap vst's for effects etc, save up and get the really charming plugins that you can for pro tools and enjoy the quality of stuff that somehow comes knocking on the Digidesign door and for some reason, not so often on the VSTi door.

I was afraid of that. (sorry for the jack but my question may help VAKIS) I'm trying to help my bandmate choose a sound card for his laptop. At minimum he needs 2 outs (one could be the headphone out). anyone have suggestions. (BTW ibook w/ osx) I currentlly have the Emu 1820 but that is out of his price range not for laptops and PC only. Does the M-audio firewire solo have a seperate out for headphones rather than just playing what is coming out of the main outs. thnx.

(oh BTW he's currentllly using the sound card that came with it and an M-audio uno for midi)

For 2 outs go Echo.

I also have a Layla24 and can assure you echo make quality products.

Of course my friend is poor. or cheap. My suggestion was the M-audio audiophile but it has rca audio connections whereas the solo has balanced 1/4" ins and outs and the solo is cheaper.

I should have clarified. I use an Echo Layla but your bandmate should look into the Indigo DJ (i think tis that model) which has 2 outputs and sleeps in your PCMCIA slot.

I was just using my experiences with a Layla 24 to shed some light into the level of quality that Echo display with their products.

I highly recommend visiting the Digi DUC and asking there. You'll get better, more accurate feedback.

I am. It's fine. I use the input/playback knob for volume control to my monitors
