Love it! Was looking for another synth to complement the Pulse for a long time. Love the Pulse's sounds, but the edit matrix does my head in a bit, so was also looking for something with lots of knobs. The XT fits the bill perfectly. Still use the Pulse for basslines all the time though...polyslax wrote:Mmmm... how d'you like the XT?

How do you like the M-Audio Keystation, 80? I was thinking about maybe picking up an 88 key version to better learn to play the piano on. I have an Axiom 25 with some knobs and pads, and an APC40 coming... so all of the "bells and whistles" aren't really needed. Just looking for a keyboard with a... well... good keyboard. I'm assuming the keys have a pretty good feel similar to the Axiom?

Nice! Looks to be in good shape as well. I've been lurking around XT auctions for a bit but haven't found the right one yet. You'll need a Q next.8O wrote:Love it! Re: Re:
Hehe, yeah, I spent a lot of time following ebay auctions for the XT or similar and in the end it was one of those late night last minute, what the hell, bids where you just bid and then you watch the final seconds ticking away and half regretting it already and hoping that you don't win the auction after all. Picked it up for around 350 euros and it's in pretty perfect condition, so am very happy with it...polyslax wrote:Nice! Looks to be in good shape as well. Re: Post your set up and your sexy cat...
It's ok, it was a compromise solution after lots of faffing around -> http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=110035. Tbh I prefer the Axiom key action, but just wanted a keys-only controller with no knobs, pads, stuff, you know...Zeddy wrote:How do you like the M-Audio Keystation, 80? Depends on what your coming from. Definitely different to the Axiom. But the action is nowhere like playing my Yamaha U3 piano. If you have a chance to play around with one b4 you buy then you will notice the difference, not only on the action, but the ability to use both of your hands properly.Zeddy wrote:I'm assuming the keys have a pretty good feel similar to the Axiom?
iMac - 10.10.3 - Live 9 Suite - APC40 - Axiom 61 - TX81z - Firestudio Mobile - Focal Alpha 80's - Godin Session - Home made foot controller

I guess you definitley get what you pay for. I'll try it out. Maybe save up for the keystation pro. It's quite a bit more though. I'm not a great player. I'm just looking to learn so maybe feel isn't too important for me.8O wrote:It's ok, it was a compromise solution after lots of faffing around -> http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=110035. BookEndz have been making these for a while. The ones I've seen do indeed duplicate all the ports on the laptops they were designed for. Just pop the laptop onto the platform & slide in the port duplicators on the sides.
Not the same solution as what you described, but completely functional.

I've posted my modest shoe box of a studio on here before but just wondered if anyone else simply opens their laptop flat and stands it at the back?:

Takes up like, 4 inches...
(Decent bins and one of they funky Launchpad's next -and a move to a room bigger than a telephone box eventualy....)

Hey Guff, are those the Behringer MS 20's? Are they ok?Guff Tong wrote:I've posted my modest shoe box of a studio on here before but just wondered if anyone else simply opens their laptop flat and stands it at the back?:

Not too good .....My thrifty-ness got the better of me in the early days.Hey Guff, are those the Behringer MS 20's? Are they ok?
They Don't translate the true low frequenies well and lack decent high definition too. I have to adjust the sparse tone controls to compensate for the lack of bass also (not expecting much in my current 'venue'.
They do sound better porting from the TRS outs of my FTPro and will siffice in an NS10 capacity in the future
Normaly mixdown my home sketches in a friends pro studio (Adams, Tapco's & NS10's) and never seem to be too far off the mark.
I think if you have good ear and comparative audio awareness you can use any speakers/cans.

Hi Guff Tong
My "studio" is even smaller... it's not even wide enough to fit in your keyboard!
My Powerbook fits between the KRKs with 2 inches to spare either side, harhar.

Yes. Although I'm not "in the closet" as you Americans might say. I prefer to think of it as a cubbyhole, or an alcove. The biggest dimension is floor to ceiling I'm afraid. It's like a tall telephone box.Bleep Blop Ima Robot wrote:that sounds like some small ass room...are you playing in a closet?telekom wrote:Hi Guff Tong

I fear that, ridiculous as it seems, the size of my studio will however be used to question my sexuality at some point. If only my studio was bigger I'd feel like more of a man.

...As Lieutenant Ron Hoover said;
"No, my son!
You must go into THE CLOSET
And you will have....
A lot of fun!
That's where they all live...
So if you want an
Appliance to love you
You'll have to go in there
N' get you one"
