Advice on Audio interface for powerbook

hi
i'm switching from pc to mac (powerbook 12", 1,5 ghz, new latest line)
my main program is ableton live 4

I want to buy an audio-interface, and could use some advice

i was looking at the M-audio Firewire audiophile, but there seem to be some problems with mac (or people would be using it the wrong way

)
should i use it?

A friend of mine is selling his Emagic EMI a62, witch is perfect sized, but it's quite an old interface, and there maybe wil not be supporting it for long in terms of drivers etc, or am i mistaking?

So, what interface would be good for use with powerbook and ableton, in the same size as the Audiophile firewire and Emagic a62?

If you just need 2 x 2, Indigo IO, if you need just 4 out, Indigo DJ.

like i said, cardbus is no option

the audiophile is actractive, but there is this whole issue about driver porblems and stuff... but you can't hotplug the unit, so people that don't know this, maybe get in problems, and start to shout negative spam...
i would not mind this little handicap, as long as this is the only 'problem', and my system won't crash and stuff...

I think I'm a rare case, though. What's your budget? The Emagic EMI a62 is USB and the consensus is to stay away. From my own experience, I had bad luck with a Tascam US-428 and it was USB.
I'd look into saving some cash if you want to take it seriously and check out the MOTU traveler or the Presonus (although I haven't heard about how the Presonus works with Live.)
I wish I went with the 15" Powerbook so I could go cardbus. I'm getting sick of my limited inputs. hindsight is 20/20, though.

you indeed seem to be one of the few, although i heard others being happy two...
traveler etc are way to big for what i need...

maybe the firebox would be a good idea, although i also would be happy with somthing a little cheaper... i just found out the firebox drivers are into OSX allready. that's intresting. here in the benelux it is availbale in 3 weeks. does it ship in america allready?

i like the emagic, but the driversupport is worrieng.... i mailed aplle/emagic, but they can't say anything about it...
