again with the lemur...

Post by AC1D » Mon Oct 12, 2009 8:53 pm

asking around about the lemur, some one said that it has a slight delay with ableton for example moving faders and pushing buttons is not in time perfect...any idea why or is this just a one off?

I'm not getting a noticeable delay at all. I'm guessing the size and CPU of a session may effect that... but my rather intensive Live session works perfectly and fast.

.. actually.. I would like to add. I did have a week period where my Lemur was lagging. After 4 days or so of it showing signs of latency, it refused to start up. After contacting Jazz Mutant, within 2 days I had a new motherboard shipped. All was good again. Perhaps reports you heard were actually faulty Lemurs?

"JazzMutant's groundbreaking products Lemur and Dexter have been in short supply over the past couple months, due to a combination of unprecedented success and a complex touch panel bubbling issue which limited our output capability. The company has decided not to compromise on quality. Despite assembly improvement and quality control enhancements, the last batch of touch panels have failed to meet our standards. As a result, we decided not to resume the production of the Lemur at the moment. In order to avoid this issue in the future, we are now completely redesigning the touch panel component of the Lemur.

The upside of all this is that the next batch of Lemur will feature the latest generation of our multi-touch technology: better optical performances, higher precision, greater accuracy and responsiveness. It will be clearer and have brighter colors. We plan on launching the new touch-panel component in October. We once again thank you for your patience, and look forward to sharing the excitement in October! "

:O good thing i didnt have the money or i would of been stupid enough to buy one i think ill wait :D (i have to anyway:P)

i purchased one of the post march 2009 lemurs with the bubbling issue, and have been put on the free screen upgrade list

they also gave me the dexter dual mode download for having to put up with the bubbling issue and being patient

their customer service is pretty solid, unfortunately, they arent always to quick to get problems fixed due to the small size of the company

still waiting for snow leopard compatibility

everything said, i love my lemur, the only thing that i would want beside it is a knobby controller like the BCR2000
