Hello All,
I'm new to Ableton Live 8, and I'm super excited about exploring the possibilities that this wonderful program offers.
However, it seems that when trying to warp certain tracks, Ableton Live will introduce "artifact like sounds" which will make the track sound all jumbled up. If i turn off the warp feature, the track will play as it was originally recorded and will sound fine. My guess is that Ableton is marking transients and trying to place those transients on the time grid in a manner that is distorting the song.
In any event, this is extremely frustrating for me, the first time user. Has anyone experienced this? And more importantly, is there a way around this problem? Any guidance would be very greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

I've found warping an art more than a tool, an art BTW that I haven't mastered yet
Try the (many) different warp modes and you'll see that each mode changes the sound differently.
Search the forums and the internet on countless discussions on the topic of warping.
Most of all be patient, there's a very long learning curve ahead of you...

imho warping isn't as bad as the above poster states! It's all a matter of simply learning the different result and proper ways to use the different warp modes. Start of by reading the chapter in the manual where the different aspects are explained.
Tip: If it's a straight loop or digital recording, try switching to Beat 1/16 or maybe Complex Pro. If it's a rip of a vinyl record, you are in for a exponentially greater challenge, but you'll get there together with the nice gentleman named Manual
