Thanks for the reply. I have some MIDI files I made in a notation
program and for some reason there are (pc) patch changes in the files
so I cant select presets from my vsts because it defaults to a specified patch....

live definitely lacks some lots of MIDI improvements...

I guess you'll find some workarounds (program and bank changes availables in the midi clip windows)

shouldn't be too hard...
cut the clip in the places theres a program change..
then choose a different preset for each clip...

you are definitely NOT an idiot, as the midi event editor is really a lacking stuff in Live, as for really useful midi editing tools, enveloppes displays...

MIDI edition is at its weakest level in ableton live. too bad

there are some workarounds, happily, but it's still "workarounds"
