It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

yeah at 39, I may be in the old mens club.....certainly a hair club for men candidate...
I first knew the stones version, but then found new found love with the version on the fist JA album. Perry just made that song come alive in ways the original does not (imho)

Cool link. Despite the fact that they are fossil fuel and should have hung it up in the 80's, they were a great band, wrote some really cool trippy vibey songs..... JA was one of the last band imho to make soulful music like that. Not that there has not been great songs written since, it's just as an entire band vibe, things seem flat the last 10 years.....

welcome.. you'll probably notice this sooner or later but threads in this forum have a way of getting sidetracked.. What starts of as a subject will become a whole total subject by page 2..

to op:
i know you dont want to hear this but i advice you not to try to realize your ideas yet.
a lot of things in ableton are best discovered by accident and it's much easier to stumble over cool tricks if you are not trying to create a specific sound or effect.

just troll the shit out of the tips and tricks section and try to copy peoples ideas. you're bound to make some discoveries of your own. and do the built in tutorial, it's not terribly long.

btw, i was making hip hop beats for more than ten years only occasionally flirting with d'n'b or house, but ableton has really brought the tech out in me, and i hardly ever sample anymore (which kind of sucks, shame on me). now you're warned :-)
