What about scouring ebay for something a bit older if you are after inspiration. Or just wipe all your mk presets and start everything from an init patch.

Just didnt like the sound mate i found programming it a bit of a pain too but they have since brought out the software editor which should sort things out.

I might do that - preset wise im cool, ive got loads of banks and I can get a lot out of it as Ive had it about 5 years but its just something new i think I need. Whenver I get a loan of kit or get a new plug I tend to do quite well productivity wise....

got one myself two weeks ago, now all my synth jobs are done via hardware

the mk really has a homely interface about it that's why people love it, it's limitations always make you reach for more, I had a micron for a couple of days and though the build is much better I found myself always thinking about how I could paint it, that silver/orangessredish trim made me insane in the membrane

I have been following that discussion as well.
Most of it is based on the observations of a member and his experiance using a shop demo of the miniak at a guitar center.The other contributors are comparing the manuals. My observation is based on an article i read some place that sugested the OS of the miniak was slightly diferent to the Micron/ion.It is my understanding that there are a couple more FX and the sequencers behave diferently in the miniak. It also said that the patched made in the ion/micron could be read by the miniak, but that miniak ptaches could be read by the micron and the ion only if they do not have the features unique to the miniak in them.
This is how the micron to ion patch exchange works, the micron can read ion patches, but the ion is unable to read micron patches that contain sequencer and paterns.

I could be wrong mind you.
I think the article was on one of the synth/computer music bloggs and was writen at the trade show where akai presented the miniak.

the micron is more powerful but I like the microkorg more.

I went the Micron way...I'm very happy with it, the keys are bigger than those on the MK so you can play chords and melodies easier.

I love my micron. If you're not afraid to dig in, you can make it do some really cool stuff. Admittedly, menu diving has never really bothered me (lots of yamaha gear), but the vst or au editors make it really cool.
